Retford water tank firm supplies Grand Designs project

A Retford firm has enjoyed a moment in the spotlight after one of its products featured in a breathtaking project on Channel 4's Grand Designs.

Direct Water Tanks, which is based at the Retford Enterprise Centre, supplied an underground rainwater harvesting system to the builders of Otter Farm in Devon.

The project was featured in the latest series of the television programme, although it was only part-finished at the time of screening.

A company spokesman said: “We were contacted by Mark Diacono with his plans to recycle large amounts of rainwater in a bid to make Otter Farm more environmentally-friendly.

“We advised Mark on the best solution for his needs from previous underground tank installations, and he purchased one of our 6,800 litre models to supply water to crops and plants in his polytunnel, as well as his kitchen garden.”

Underground water tanks are well suited to rainwater harvesting, which is the process of collecting and storing rainwater for later use.

Uses can span from irrigation, plumbing and washing cars, and can produce huge savings on water bills and environmental costs.
