Whitwell Primary has picked up a trophy in one of the biggest school choir festivals in the region.

The school won the trophy for the highest placed school within the Bolsover district at the 10th Bolsover District Council School Choir Festival.

It saw over 1,200 children competing, representing 24 schools from across Derbyshire.

“This is now the tenth year we have staged this festival and you can see the improvements being made by the schools in terms of the quality and professionalism of their performances. We have some really talented youngsters out there and we will do everything we can to try and support and help them with their musical talent,” said coun Anne Syrett.
