Police officers will be in the Worksop area this evening (June 7) where a man was found dead in the hope of jogging someone’s memory about the incident.
It has been a week since a 23-year-old male collapsed close at the entrance of Bassetlaw Hospital and the One Stop Convenience Store, in Kilton Hill.
He had been dropped off outside the maternity ward at about 8.40pm on Tuesday, 31 May. Between then and 9.25pm he suffered a catastrophic brain injury and died.
The man, who was Polish, is described as white, about 5ft 8ins tall with dark, collar-length hair. He was wearing glasses and was dressed in a light blue hooded top, a black t-shirt with a white and brown picture on the front, blue jeans and olive green trainers.
Detective Inspector, Andy Bateman, who is leading the investigation, said: “We have viewed CCTV footage and spoken to a number of people present in the area at the time, but we are still seeking the final piece to the puzzle about how this seemingly well man came to suffer such a critical head injury.
“The man appeared fine when he was dropped off. We think he then walked down the slip road towards Kilton Hill. Did you see him?
“It was quite busy in the area at that time, especially near the One Stop shop. Did you see the man or notice anything out of place?
“His death is currently being treated as unexplained and are keen to hear from anyone who saw anything unusual or suspicious.”
