A CARLTON pensioner is looking to donate her late husband’s extensive record collection to charity.

Eileen Hebb, 82, from Long Lane, was clearing out her loft when she was surprised to find hundreds of classic hits dating back to the 1950s.

The back catalogue includes hits from Buddy Holly, Elvis, Barry Manilow and Bruce Springsteen amongst a wealth of other big named artists.

“I thought he had sold them all,” she said. “But there are hundreds still up there.”

“When I listen to them they take back to the good times we had. It makes me feel 20 all over again.”

“I thought about throwing them all away but couldn’t bring myself to do it.”

“They might as well go to someone who will get some use out of them.”

Eileen (pictured), who was the first police woman in Worksop in 1953, is a big fan of jazz music and can play the organ.

She has one in her home and even helped to teach her son how to play.

“I like music and if I can fiddle a nice tune on the organ I will give it a go,” she added.

“They are the sorts of hits you heard from people’s homes when you were walking down the street.”

“It’s funny in the ‘80s people were getting rid of them and now they’re all collectors items.”

Anyone interested in taking the collection can contact the Guardian on 01909 500500.
