The 10 Commandments set God’s standard for living. Like it or not, and a lot of High Court judges appear not to, the moral basis for our laws is to be found in Exodus, the second book in the Old Testament. In the 3500 years since the Commandments were written, many ways unthought-of then of being dishonourable have come about – cybercrime for instance. But “Thou shalt not kill” is more relevant today than ever. Community living depends on care, consideration and compassion, not guns and grenades.
