A couple whose daughter was delivered stillborn have raised £3,000 for the hospital labour ward.

Keith and Emma Hampson from Bircotes were left devastated when their daughter was delivered stillborn and have been fundraising to support other bereaved families.

They presented a cheque for £3,124 to Bassetlaw Hospital and the money will pay for a room on the labour ward where bereaved parents can go.

Emma said: “We were treated with such compassion. The staff were so supportive and understanding and because of this we knew we had to fundraise as our way of saying thank you and to also keep Evelyn’s memory alive.”

As well as having home comforts, the new room will have a cot where parents can place their stillborn babies enabling them to spend precious time together.

Emma and Keith held many different charity events throughout last year including frog racing and a Christmas party.

Events for this year include a fashion show at Worksop Town Hall.

Worksop Town Football Club have generously donated their turn-style revenue from their match against Retford United.

Lead Midwife Karen Cousins said: “Thank you so much to Emma and Keith for this very generous donation.

“Although only a small number of our patients experience such a tragedy, this money will be used to refurbish a room on the ward which will allow bereaved parents to spend time with their baby in a peaceful environment and allow them to create lasting memories.”

Keith and Emma want to thank family and friends for their support and Coun David Challinor and his wife Denise for their help with the fundraising.
