care assistant Debbie Blackburn got on her bike for charity.

The 31-year-old, of Rufford Street, Worksop, has raised more than £800 for Thornberry Animal Sancturary at North Anston.

She said: “We have always had rescue dogs from Thornberry so when I heard that they were struggling for money I decided to do something to help.”

“Our cross-breed dog Ellie was run over on New Year’s Day and she came from Thornberry so it seemed a nice way to remember her too.”

Debbie works for the autism charity Norsaca.

She was joined by members of her family on the sponsored bike ride. They set off from Debbie’s home and cycled to Clumber Park and back, a distance of about ten miles.

Debbie said: “There were 12 of us taking part and we all wore fancy dress to make it more fun. The youngest cycling was 15-years-old.”
