Northern Rail has pledged to show their support for men’s health charity Movember by decorating some of their trains.
Fifty trains will be designed with moustaches on them and will be seen in this month across Nottinghamshire right up to Carlisle and Northumberland.
This is the second year Northern Rail has worked with the charity and last year £11,000 was raised by employees. Alex Hynes, managing director for Northern, said : “In 2013 our incredible employees raised an amazing amount of money which has gone to local projects around our network, helping fund programmes supporting men’s health, research into prostate and testicular cancer and highlighting mental health issues.
“Our Mo Trains, a World first for the charity, created a huge stir last year with our customers. Serving a population of 15 million people, we can really help spread the word about the seriousness of men’s health issues.”
“Our Mo Trains will be out and about throughout November, and plenty of our employees will be taking part, from conductors and drivers to depot engineers and directors wearing the ribbon for men’s health with pride.”
Movember is a national mens health charity and its funded programmes focus on awareness and education, for people living with cancer. Funds also go towards helping mental health issues and further research.
