Bassetlaw Citizen’s Advice: Are holding a Jumble Sale on Saturday 17th November from 10am–1.30pm at their bureau in Worksop on Central Avenue. Free entry, all are welcome. There will be clothes, books, cakes, toys, bric-a-brac for sale.

BASSETLAW Stroke Information Service: Is a new service for residents, funded by NHS Bassetlaw and Notts County Council and delivered by Bassetlaw Action Centre. The service provides advice, information and support to stroke survivors, and their families and carers for as long as it is needed. A case worker is available to assist you to access services that you may require to support your return to day-to-day life. Advice and support is available for practical things like: filling in forms, applying for benefits, assistance with looking at housing needs and with adaptations that are required, other practical assistance, support to return back to work, signposting to other relevant services/agencies, put people in contact with other stroke survivors or just a listening ear! BASSETLAW Hospital League of Friends: 19th - 23rd November, members of the League of Friends will be in the Outpatients Department of the hospital where we shall be selling tickets for our Christmas Raffle. First prize will be a Christmas hamper and there will be many other prizes.Anyone visiting the hospital for an appointment between those dates please look out for us and support us when you can. 19th December, starting at 7pm we shall be holding our annual Lessons and Carols Service in the hospital chapel, refreshments will be served afterwards. MS Society, Worksop and District, St Anne’s Hall: Meet on the second and fourth Mondays of each month, 7pm. On the fourth Monday we have guest speakers. NORTH Notts National Trust: Wednesday 21st November, Little Mesters. If you are a National Trust member or volunteer from the North Notts area which includes Retford, Tuxford, Ollerton and Worksop then you are entitled to join us. Winter meetings are held every month in the Crossing, Newcastle Avenue at 7.30pm with coffee/tea and biscuits from 7pm onwards. PARKINSON’S UK: The November meeting was a lively, well attended affair. Jane Coleman from County Enterprise Foods gave a very interesting insight into the work that they do. She concluded her talk with some very generous samples of the excellent food available. The December meeting is the Christmas Party and takes place at The Station Hotel at 2pm on Tuesday 4th. There will be no meeting at the Cricket Club in December. The Christmas party rounds off a very successful year with new members joining all the time. Outings and lunches have been very popular and will hopefully continue next year. The January meeting takes place on the second Tuesday - Jan 8th because Jan 1st is a Bank holiday. WOMEN’S Institute: Fundraising events have been held throughout the summer and at the November meeting a cheque for £250 was presented to Vicky Rawson of Focus on Young People in Bassetlaw. Vicky described how local young people are supported in various activities by the charity. Three successes for the WI were celebrated: the trophy for the People’s Choice at the Newark Show was displayed, second place at the WI competition at Apple Day in Southwell and first place in the Nottinghamshire WIs’ competition for a journal of the walks and swimming undertaken in Olympic year. The guest speaker was Mavis Plater who told us about the Eistedffod on Llangollen. Our December meeting will be the Christmas Party and on January 3rd we will resume the programme of speakers and activities. WORKSOP Flower Club: Are holding their annual Christmas Social on the 3rd December at St Anne’s Church Hall, doors open at 6.40pm. A pie and pea supper (with wine) and entertainment – Swing Band, Curling and quizzes.
