WHITWELL Local History Group: 3rd July was a members’ night and Mrs Jo Wheldon and Mr Paul Owens gave talks on wildly different subjects. Jo talked about the 31st December 1900 edition of the Daily Mail where a whole page was taken up with pictures of Beauties of the Century. Not pop stars, film stars, or footballers, but Duchesses, Ladies and Honourables! The talk given by Paul was on the miracles which it is believed can be achieved by Saints, in particular the resurrection of people who had been pronounced dead. On 17th July Mrs June Ibbotson will be giving a talk on Cuckney - Village at the Crossroads.
WHITWELL Junior Players: Whitwell Community Centre every Tuesday from 5-7.15pm. Open to all children aged 7upwards. Contact Janet Astle for more details on: 01909 720112.
