BARLBOROUGH

THE BARLBOROUGH ‘Little’ School: Coffee shop open Tuesday and Thursday, 9am-12noon.

THE CHAPEL Tea Room, New Road: Wednesdays from 1pm onwards for light lunches and afternoon tea.

BARLBOROUGH Heritage and Visitors’ Centre: Come and view the re - vamped Barlborough Resource Centre. The whole of the downstairs has been re-fitted with permanent display cabinets. These now house an interesting collection of artefacts relating to the history of the village including items from Saxon and Roman times. Each month as well as the permanent displays there will be a Themed exhibition. A photocopying service is available at a small charge. Entry to the centre and exhibitions is free, donations are always welcome to help with running costs. There is full disabled access and a small cafe on site. ST JAMES’ Church: On Sunday 21st August at 11am Sung Eucharist was celebrated by the rector. The organist was J. Whybrow, the chalice-bearers N. Elcock and I. Morton, the servers A. Wilkins and F. Anderson, the elements were brought forward by G. Woodhead and A. Elcock, the lessons were read by D. Blackwell, the prayers were led by P. Hall and the sidespeople were J. and M. Messenger. The choir sang the anthem ‘Hide not Thou Thy Face’ to a setting by R. Farrant. Evensong at 6pm was led by the rector.

Did you used to live on the Row or do you have ancestors that lived on Low Common/Barbers Row? Why not visit one of our meetings. We have collected a large amount of photographs depicting life on the Row. We are now busy compiling stories which we hope to publish. GALA: Clowne Gala will take place on Saturday 17th September, between 11am and 3pm at Clowne Campus, High Street, Clowne. This year it will be opened by Tony Eaton, Help for Heroes Nottinghamshire County Co-ordinator.
