Motorists have been warned to expect delays after emergency sewer repair work was announced on a busy Worksop road.

Severn Trent say a main sewer pipe has collapsed on Kilton Road - meaning emergency repairs have to be carried out immediately.

It follows weeks of delays for drivers thanks to the ongoing work at Millhouse Roundabout.

A spokesman said: “We’ve discovered a partial collapse of the main sewer pipe in Kilton Road, Worksop. It’s really important that we fix this now, not only to keep the sewers flowing as they should, but also to prevent any substantial damage to the road.

“Unfortunately, to do this work safely, we are having to close Kilton Road, from 149 Kilton Road for approximately 20 meters towards High Hoe Road.

“The road will be closed from Tuesday, October 11 for approximately three weeks and clear diversions will be in place during this time.

“Obviously we know this is going to cause some inconvenience and we want to say sorry for that and ask for the patience of the local community while we carry out this emergency work.”
