Millhouse roundabout improvements to pick up the pace

The £2.4m project, which will see the installation of traffic signals at the site, began in February of this year and was scheduled to last 32 weeks however work fell behind by around five weeks.

Councillor Kevin Greaves of Notts County Council and chairman of the transport and highways committee held an urgent meeting to try and see how work can be hurried along.

He said: “They are looking to catch up on the time where possible. They are trying their best to complete the work by the end of October.

“I have been pushing for this roundabout to be done. I have made it a mission of mine since I was elected.

“It will be a massive improvement for the roundabout.

“There have been some problems with drainage so we have had to make some improvements there.

“We have put something in which people have been saying looks like a running track going around the roundabout. This is to allow work on the drainage to be carried out without the need of traffic management.

“Traffic management is costly and it causes delays.

“Maintenance can pull onto there without disrupting the flow of traffic.

“They are catching up on time. You can now see the posts for where the traffic lights which will be installed.

“From now on people will see a lot of things coming along.”

The Millhouse Roundabout Improvements project is being jointly funded by Nottinghamshire County Council, D2N2 – the Local Enterprise Partnership, and the Sheffield City Regional Investment Fund.
