TUESDAY lunch times have a more relaxed feel in Gainsborough, as a series of free concerts at All Saints’ Parish Church is underway.

Now more than half way through the six week programme, the concerts have seen a healthy number of people in the audience.

A variety of classical music has been performed, by musicians on flute, strings, piano and harpsichord.

And from 1.05pm they have provided a relaxing retreat away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

The concerts were introduced in 1992 with the aim of bringing live music to visitors and local people who are in Gainsborough for work or shopping on market day.

Now, 21 years later, they are still going strong and are entirely self-supporting.

There is no admission fee, and performers give their time for free.

Still to come this summer are Charles Edmondson on Tuesday 21st August, playing organ and piano.

And on Tuesday 28th August the Katriane Duo finish off the season with music for flute and classical guitar.

Refreshments are always available in the church cafe, and the gift shop is also open to browse.
