Kentucky Fried Chicken could soon be landing in Worksop as the fast food company this week confirmed it was looking for a suitable location.
Rumours had been abound on social media websites that the finger-lickin’ chicken chain was coming to town.
And when the Guardian contacted KFC to find out more, they confirmed it was true.
A spokesperson for KFC said: “We’d love to open a restaurant in Worksop to satisfy demand from our fans in the area.”
“We’re currently looking for a suitable location, and hope to have some good news in the future.”
So where could the new restaurant go?
The rumour mill provided one suggestion - the old Seafields site on Kilton Hill, where a brand new Morrison’s supermarket and filling station are currently being built.
And it seems as good a place as any.
Planning permission for the scheme, granted by Bassetlaw Council last January, features a plot of land earmarked for ‘future development’. It sits just off the road, opposite the filling station.
Bassetlaw Council said it was not aware of any formal planning application from KFC for the Kilton Road site, neither had it been involved in any discussions.
