An object believed to be a ‘bullet’ has been found in a shopping basket in a busy town centre Asda.

It was found at around 4:15pm on Thursday afternoon by a staff member at the Victoria Retail Park, Memorial Avenue.

A PCSO was immediately on the scene to take it away for examination.

Police are yet to give any details or confirmation.

The female shop floor worker who found the ‘bullet’, who did not want to be named, said: “I just came over to the baskets and there it was.”

“It was a bit of a shock, at first I thought it was a toy.”

Another shop worker said: “You could tell by the detail and the weight of it that it was real.”

At this stage it is unclear where the bullet it from.

More to follow.
