Police have revealed that a 51-year-old woman was jogging when she was attacked and sexually assaulted in Worksop last night.

They described the attack as a ‘isolated incident’ and appealed to the public to aid their investigation.

Officers were called to Eddison Park Avenue where a woman was sexually assaulted at around 8.45pm on Tuesday 1st April 2014.

The victim was jogging between the junction with Carlton Road and Lancaster Walk when the assault happened.

She has received hospital treatment and is being supported by specialist officers.

“This was an isolated incident in an area which is popular with joggers, dog walkers and local residents,” said DCI Martin Hillier from Notts Police’s public protection unit.

“I am appealing to those people. Were you in the area between 8pm and 9pm? Did you see anything suspicious which you may not have thought much about at the time? Did you hear anything?”

“Any information could be vital to our inquiry so please contact us.”

A spokesman said extra patrols were being made to reassure the public and officers were continuing with door to door enquiries.
