Hundreds of walkers have already decided to take part in the event on October 1 with the figure growing by the day.

But many more people are also needed to help run the event on the day.

Rachel Rogers, walk officer, said: “We rely on people giving their time to help us to create a wonderful day and while dozens of volunteers have already come forward, we need to find many more.

“We want to find 99 more volunteers for Clumber Park, which is a new walk this year.

“Around 80 people have put their names in as helpers at Nottingham, where we would like to add another 50.

“Helpers provide support in a variety of roles and we have something to suit everyone ranging from marshalling to handing out medals at the end.

Volunteers can sign up for either the Clumber Park walk, or the Nottingham walk on September 10, at www.memorywalk.org.uk
