The Worksop Guardian has joined forces with Worksop Town FC supporters today, to host a market stall on Bridge Street.

Guardian editor Ben Green and Tigers fans were promoting the #Team500 Club fundraising efforts, as the battle to save the world’s fourth oldest club from extinction goes on.

Readers were able to meet the editor and put their points across on the future of their local newspaper, and their attention was then drawn to the plight of the town’s football club.

Tigers hope to attract 500 members, paying a £200 membership scheme that will entitle them to a season ticket and discounts at some local stores.

The £100,000 raised will not only safeguard the club’s immediate existence, but help them develop for the future to become a fan-run self sustaining organisation.
