The Notts Fire Service and the CLA joined forces at Hodsock Priory in Blyth to call for a ban on the use of Chinese lanterns at events like weddings and New Year’s Eve parties.

While they may seem harmless and look beautiful, in reality, the Fire Service says, they can quickly drift out of control and be a major fire risk to crops and countryside, as well as a health risk to livestock.
