This news came after a re-launch of the appeal to find Stan on the week anniversary since he went missing.
Speaking at the family home just hours before the discovery, Stan’s son Terry said: “We are extremely concerned.
“The family has been holding it together but it’s horrendous - it has been an absolute week from hell.”
Stan, who is also known as Raymond, was last seen at his family home on Lime Tree Road, Ollerton, on April 29.

Terry also praised the community, saying they have been “fantastic” throughout the campaign to find his dad.
He said: “There has been hundreds of people out helping us look.
“We have been all around the forests, fields, rivers and lakes.”
The family and officers said the disappearance was “out of character” for Stan, who was well-known in the community.

More than 50 officers have been part of the search for Stan every day - including an underwater search team.
Speaking before the discovery this morning, Superintendent Richard Fretwell also praised the “strong sense of community” in Ollerton.
He said: “We are really grateful and thankful to them, as I know the family are.
“Stan’s a proud local man who is very well liked within the community.
“So the community have really stepped up to help.”
