South Yorkshire: 27-year-old policeman charged with causing a 15-year-old girl to engage in sexual activity

A South Yorkshire Police PC has been charged with causing a 15-year-old girl to engage in sexual activity.

Daniel Cookson, 27, who was previously based in Rotherham, was charged with the offence on Thursday 21 August.

It allegedly happened between March and November 2013. He was suspended from his position in the force when he was arrested in November 2013, pending the outcome of the investigation.

He has been released on bail pending further enquiries. He appeared at Leeds Magistrates’ Court today (Thursday 28th August).
