This Christmas the Worksop Guardian website will be lit-up by videos by of the exterior of homes and gardens with festive lights and decorations.
Love them or hate them, they are becoming increasingly popular.
Giant festive characters and meters of twinlking lights and fake snow are now regular features on our streets.
Many do it to simply brighten and cheer up their street and make people smile in austere times. Others are annual extravaganzas which raise money for charity.
The Guardian wants to celebrate this and is launching its ‘Best Christmas Lights in Bassetlaw’ competition.
We are asking you to send in a video clip, no longer than 15 seconds, of the outside of your home and garden.
Whether it’s with a smart phone, iPad or video camera, most of you now have the technology at your fingertips to make a short video.
The videos will be shown on our website so the homes can be seen in all their glory and can be enjoyed by everyone.
It couldn’t be easier to send in your clips - simply email them to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Don’t forget to include your contact details on your entry.
Winners will be announced in the Guardian on Friday 20th December. The editor’s decision will be final.
