Following a successful partnership between Rotherham Council and Morthyng vocational college, five young people have now started an exciting new apprenticeship in the area of Youth Work.
The young people are now employed by the Council and work directly in youth centres throughout the area.
They are serving areas such as Kiveton and Maltby, helping other youngsters from the local areas daily.
Many of the young people have progressed through the government’s new Traineeship scheme and were undergoing training at Morthyng college in Rotherham before securing the opportunity.
It is hoped that following the successful completion of the one year apprenticeship the students will have employment opportunities with the Council.
Student Milan Slepcik said: “It is a great experience and I am learning a lot.”
“It is real work and I am helping others which is what I want to do.”
Young people have the opportunity to start every week and with weekly bursaries available regardless of parental and guardian income. For information about starting a course, contact the college on 01709 828133.
