Reader’s letter: The state of Worksop and Dinnington’s roads

I see that some road repairs have been done in Worksop but there are still plenty to do.

The disgraceful situation near the traffic lights on Carlton Road at the NNC is particularly bad. Over the border into South Yorkshire it is a different story again. Dinnington’s roads look like they has been through a blitzkrieg.

Take a look at the ironically named New Road near the “Falcon” area. It qualifies as no more than a farm track. Thurcroft main street has speed humps but they are hardly necessary when the holes and other humps in the road outnumber the official ones 20 to one at least!

For anyone using a bicycle, e.g like children, it is a safety issue that needs to be addressed. Oh I can hear some say “there’s no money due to cuts”.

Really? Please tell us how much reserve the council has. In any case why are we giving £12 Billion a year away in foreign aid and over £50 Million a day to the EU (is that for the new road building schemes in eastern Europe)? It’s about time we looked after ourselves more and others less!

Can I also give our motoring readers a little reminder - Blyth Road is 30mph until past Thievesdale area. It’s not 40 any more. Some think it must be 60 the way they come down the hill before the turn for Thievesdale Lane. SLOW down, two fields lay to the side of this road that many children and dog walkers use!
