Three couples from Bassetlaw are among 34 from across Notts who have been among the first to take advantage of an historic change in the law.

From tomorrow (Saturday) same-sex marriages will be legal in the county.

And several couples have already taken advantage to book their big day.

Helen Scaman, from the County Council’s Registration Service, said: “We have the first ceremony this weekend and more to come over the summer months.”

“We’re delighted that so many couples have already booked their marriage ceremonies since the change in law and will be celebrating their big day with us in Notts.”
