Twelve cars went up in flames at a North Anston repairs garage this morning (Monday 28th April).
Firefighters were called to OC Motor Repairs Ltd on Houghton Road at around 12.45am.
Company directors also rushed to the scene to find the vehicles well ablaze.
A police investigation is now under way as it is thought the fire was started deliberately.
“Someone has broken into the compound and set fire to one car which has caused a chain reaction,” said OC Motor Repairs company director John Parker.
“We caught it quickly and the fire brigade managed to contain it.”
“We have 24 hour surveillance here and our footage has been handed to the police.”
“Luckily no-one was hurt, that’s the main thing. It’s only cars.”
OC Motor Repairs Ltd offers a repair service for drivers who have been in an accident.
Mr Parker said the burned out cars were customer cars which were already ‘total losses beyond economical repair’.
“It will be dealt with through our insurance now which covers all the cars we work on,” he said.
“We haven’t lost any money as such. Our operations are still working this morning.”
