Cash came rolling in for members of Rotherham Stroke and Disability Support Group as a borough councillor made a generous donation.

Coun Jenny Andrews, who represents the Hellaby ward, handed over a ‘big cheque’ for £200 towards the running costs of the group.

Jeanette Mallinder, chairman of the Rotherham Stroke and Disability Support Group gratefully received the sum.

“Small clubs have a difficult time in today’s tough economic times,” said Jeanette.

“This will pay for tea and coffee for a year and allow us to offer a reduced price meal which helps combat social isolation. Groups with aging members run by volunteers find this kind of support a lifeline.”
