The team at Marshall’s Yard in Gainsborough have announced their chosen charity for the coming year and will be focussing their fundraising efforts for the next 12 months on the Lincs and Notts Air Ambulance.
Staff at the award winning shopping centre will focus on helping to raise much needed funds for the Air Ambulance which offers a vital, lifesaving service for residents and visitors in Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire.
The Air Ambulance is based at RAF Waddington, south of Lincoln, and is permanently staffed by two paramedics, it can fly at almost 160 miles an hour and get anywhere in Nottinghamshire or Lincolnshire in less than 20 minutes as it is unhindered by congestion and country roads.
And most recently night vision equipment was fitted so flights can be made at night.
In a large rural county like Lincolnshire it’s a crucial service which is dependent on fundraising, the staff at Marshall’s Yard are delighted to count themselves among the Air Ambulance’s supporters.
Marshall’s Yard’s Assistant Centre Manager, Alison Hall, said: “We feel this is a vital service in a rural county like Lincolnshire and one which we are extremely grateful to have.”
“Having an air ambulance and the ability to get to a medical emergency in minutes can make all the difference.”
“All the businesses here at the Yard are fully behind the decision to support the charity and we look forward to working together to support the service and raise funds over the coming twelve months.”
To raise as much money as possible over the next twelve months, the Yard will be collecting for the charity during on site events, activities and fundraising days.
A permanent wishing well is also on the centre giving customers and staff the chance to donate funds.
At the end of the year the total raised will be given to the charity to purchase a piece of equipment and hopefully help towards making life changing improvements.
CEO of Lincs and Notts Air Ambulance, Peter Aldrick, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to have been nominated as Marshalls Yard charity of the year.”
“The Air Ambulance operates entirely through funds raised by community projects and the generosity of individuals and organisations. “
“Without this type of support the Air Ambulance wouldn’t be able to deliver the lifesaving medical emergency service that is so important in our rural county. “
“We are hugely grateful for this support.”
