Mathew Dean Baxendale, 25, of Church Walk, admitted driving with 44 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, when the legal limit is 35 microgrammes, on May 6.

Mansfield magistrates heard the man ran out of a takeaway and collided with Baxendale’s Vauxhall Astra at 11.45pm.

Sanjay Jerath, prosecuting, said: “He stopped the car and checked him and administered first aid until police arrived.”

Magistrates fined him £270, with a £30 victim surcharge and £85 costs. He was banned from driving for 12 months.
