An exhibition of Dinnington’s mining heritage will give an insight into the town’s industrial past
St Leonard’s Church, on Nursery Road, Dinnington, will host the display on Saturday 7th September from 9.30am - 3pm.
A collection of maps, pictures and lots of photos will be on show, depicting the growth of Dinnington during the working life of the pit.
Caphouse Colliery will loan mining artefacts which people can pick up and handle. And the central focus will be the miners’ memorial window and the Dinnington Miners’ Union banner.
“There is nothing in the village to show its mining heritage and think it is important it is not forgotten,” said Melvyn Lawton.
