Residents in areas like Clowne, Creswell and Whitwell are facing a potential rise in Council Tax after Derbyshire County Council announced a proposed 1.99 per cent increase to help deal with a £157m shortfall in its budget by 2018.

A 1.99% rise would mean an increase of £21.49 a year – or 41p a week – for a Band D property and £16.71 a year – or 32p a week – for a Band B property.

Most homes in Derbyshire are Band A or B.
