Officers from the Clowne Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team issued the warnings on Monday, July 18 following complaints about anti-social behaviour centred around three streets in the town.

The type of anti-social behaviour reported has included loud music, shouting and swearing, intimidating behaviour, and riding motorbikes and driving cars in an anti-social manner.

Officers have worked alongside Bolsover District Council to prepare the warning letters, which can be given to individuals who have been found to be persistently causing anti-social behaviour.

It informs them that their behaviour has to stop, and if they don’t comply with the conditions set in the letter it could lead to a formal Community Protection Notice.

A Community Protection Notice (CPN) is issued by the magistrates’ court. A breach of the CPN is an offence and may result in a fine or fixed penalty notice.

They can be issued to anyone aged 16 or over, but a written warning must be given beforehand.

PC Dan Appleby of the Clowne Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team said: “Anti-social and unreasonable behaviour can have a negative impact on the quality of life for local residents and the community.

“By issuing the community protection warnings we are giving these individuals a chance to change their behaviour. If they don’t then they risk having further action taken against them, and will have to suffer the consequences of their behaviour.”

PC Appleby added: “We hope that this will not only help reduce the issues residents in Clowne were suffering, but will also send a strong reminder that anti-social behaviour won’t be tolerated.”
