School meals now have an award-winning touch at Bolsover Junior School after their chef Gail Boyce was crowned East Midlands School Chef of the Year.
Gail won the title in a cook off against a Leicester school chef at the competition in Long Eaton.
Her winning dishes were a main course of Chinese Quorn steak cup with sweet and sour sauce and a dessert of summer berry rice, a coconut-flavoured dish with a berry puree and biscuit.
Gail will now represent the East Midlands in the mational final in Hampshire in May.
She will face nine other regional champions for the national title.
