Harry Daniel Tomlinson, 26, of Grafton Street, admitted damaging the VW Golf at the junction of Watson Road and Bridge Place, in Worksop, on March 3 at 10.30pm, after a seven hour boozing session.

“Mr Tomlinson hit the windscreen with his hands until it shattered. Shards of glass fell into the vehicle.

“The driver tried to reverse and watched as the defendant was grabbed by another man and they began to fight.”

Tomlinson was arrested. Damage to the car was estimated at £200.

Tomlinson told the court he had been out celebrating with his brother and they had been drinking since 3pm that day. He admitted he had been too drunk to remember the incident.

He said: “The last thing I remember is arguing with my brother over a game of pool. We got kicked out of the pub and the next thing I remember is waking up in the police station.”

Magistrates gave him 60 hours of unpaid work and ordered him to pay £200 compensation and £85 costs.
