VIDEO: Which is the daftest bus stop in the Worksop area? Vote now!
FOUR bus stops in the Worksop area are now competing for the title 'the daftest bus stop in Britain'.
Just two weeks ago Notts County Council was branded 'moronic' for the 'idiotic' road markings on Gateford Road in Worksop.
Since then more Guardian readers have got in touch complaining about crazy stops on their streets.
They're all featured in our photos... and we want YOU to vote on the daftest!
Bus Stop 1 is at the Newcastle Avenue and Bridge Street crossroads... the narrowest and busiest point of the town's main artery, and causing chaos since it was installed a few weeks ago

Bus Stop 2 is at Whitwell, where a bizarre raised kerb has been created – for 'rear door' passengers, when no buses offer this any more... and also forces the bus to block adjoining Station Road

Bus Stop 3 is outside St Anne's Church in Newcastle Avenue, which has been wrongly labelled Worksop Priory... confusing for strangers to the town, and complaints about it have been ignored

Bus Stop 4 is at Gateford Road, where a newly-laid red strip ensures any buses stopping there block off adjoining Hamilton Street

Guardian's resident columnist A. A. Grundi brands all of them "crackpot" and adds: "One can only wonder at how the idiots in charge of this mess got their jobs."
"They are always preaching 'safety' to everybody, and then they go and create hazards where none existed before!"
"In my opinion, the lunatics are now running the asylum."

“I have complained about this numerous times, but no one has even acknowledged my communications.”
A spokesman from Notts County Council agreed that the stop’s sign is misleading and said they are going to change it.
“The actual name on the bus stop itself was placed in error, and will be changed very soon, “ she said
Over in Bolsover, Tom Colohan, of Station Road, Whitwell, said: “Bassetlaw has keen competition from the bus stop in Whitwell Square, with its raised pavement section at the start of the stop.”
“This would be ideal for rear door buses, but when did we last see one of them? To be of use to passengers, the bus needs to stop with its rear end out across the junction, blocking exit from Station Road.”
Also up for the coveted title is the stop in Central Worksop on Newcastle Avenue.
This has been positioned at the busiest spot in town, just after the crossroads where the road narrows, causing huge tailbacks whenever a bus stops there.
Residents told the Guardian last month that the new stop is causing traffic ‘carnage’ and that is it only a matter of time until someone is killed.
But Notts County Council insists that they do try to listen to concerns from residents.
“We do consult with local residents when a bus stop is put in place,” said the spokesman. “Stops are placed following requests either from bus operators, local residents or councillors.”
“We will notify residents immediately adjacent to the site of a proposed new stop, but this is not a case for formal consultation.”
“We do however try and ensure that residents' views are taken into account as much as is practically possible.”
