VIDEO: Prime Minister Gordon Brown visits Worksop

PRIME Minister Gordon Brown visited Valley School on Monday to meet and greet pupils, and answer questions from the public.

The visit gave the PM a chance to try and win back disillusioned voters, after the MPs' expenses scandal – and was in time for Thursday's Notts County Council election.

The trip was kept top secret until Monday morning, when his visit was announced.

Police officers flanked the school gates while TV news crews gathered in a media pen to film the leader of the Labour party as he arrived.

"It was a surreal day in the life of a headteacher," said Brian Rossiter. "But the whole thing has been great for the school and the community."
