NOTTS Police have arrested two men following a shooting incident in Worksop.

At around 6.15pm on Wednesday, a passing Notts Police Dog Section officer saw a man fire what is thought to be a sawn-off shotgun at another man on Newgate Street.

The offender missed the man, who was uninjured by the discharge, and then fled the scene. The offender's intended victim also fled the scene, heading in the same direction as the offender.

He suffered minor injuries after the police dog was released in an attempt to apprehend the offender and mistakenly bit him. He has been taken to Bassetlaw Hospital for treatment.

At around 3am, officers arrested a 29 year-old man and a 23 year-old man at an address on Woodborough Road, Nottingham, in connection with this incident.

They are currently being questioned by detectives.
