Poet CJ Allen will be leading a workshop at Retford Libary on 4th October to celebrate National Poetry Day

A celebration of National Poetry Day will be taking place at Retford Library on Thursday 4th October from 9.45am-4pm.

The library will welcome poet C.J. Allen and university lecturer Julia Gaze from 9.45am to 1pm when they will be leading a poetry workshop entitled ‘Getting Started, Keeping Going and Knowing When To Stop’.

C. J. Allen has appeared in anthologies and magazines in the UK and USA, has had three collections of poems published and is this year’s winner of the Alan Sillitoe Poetry Award.

Julia Gaze is experienced in creative writing at the University of Derby and is author of numerous reviews and articles.

Tickets for the morning workshop are £5 and £3 concessions for A-Level students.

The afternoon’s events, from 2-4pm, will be lead initially by Linda Carter from the Pass on a Poem website.

There will be no charge for the afternoon session.

Retford Library promises an interesting and stimulating day for would-be-poets and lovers of poetry.
