Snow causes havoc on the roads

Traffic and Travel

DRIVERS experienced severe delays this morning (Tuesday 5th February 2013) as heavy snow brought traffic to a standstill.

The A57 between the M1 and Worksop is reported to be particularly treacherous.

Motorists reported travel times of around an hour along the seven mile stretch.

Slippery conditions were also reported on other routes around Worksop.

Notts County Council said it had been out gritting main roads and snow routes overnight, but said that would not always keep the roads clear of snow.

From 6am the gritters were out again spot gritting routes where needed.

Forecasters say snow showers could continue until lunchtime, turning to sleet and snow this afternoon and tonight.

No school closures have been reported across the county so far.
