Mum and three children rescued from house fire

FIRE crews were called to a Worksop home in the early hours of this morning to reports a mother and three children were trapped.

Firefighters broke into the house on Primrose Way and led the family, along with their pets, to safety.

Watch manager Ian Cooper said the fire is believed to have started in the kitchen.

"We broke in the front door and went upstairs and carried the three children out and led the lady out," he said.

The fire is believed to have started in the kitchen around 3am today.

Neighbour Victoria Hopkinson said it was a really distressing scene.

"I woke up to the sounds of crews banging on their door - it was so loud I thought they were trying to break into my house," she said.

"I saw the mum and her three boys being hauled to safety. It's really distressing to think of the damage that's been done to the house, but at least they escaped safely."
