Inquest for worker has been opened

AN inquest into the death of a man killed in an industrial accident in Dinnington has been opened.

Alan Gerrard, 47, of Rushey Close, Rawmarsh, died in the accident at Macalloy Ltd on Friday 25th January.

The inquest was opened and adjourned at Doncaster Coroner’s Court.

A post mortem examination revealed that Mr Gerrard died from multiple internal injuries and that his death had been instantaneous.

South Yorkshire Police and the Health and Safety Executive have launched an investigation and enquiries are continuing.

It is believed that Mr Gerrard died when he became trapped in machinery at Macalloy Ltd, based on Caxton Way.

Emergency services were called around 3.12pm on 25th January.
