A DINNINGTON rescue centre is urging dog owners and their pooches to put their best foot - or paw - forward by taking part in a sponsored walk next week.

Borneholm Dog Rescue and Rehabilitation is holding its first ever fundraising event on Saturday 15th December.

Walkers and their pooches will set off from the rescue, on Church Lane, at 1pm on a two-mile round walk, before heading back to the rescue to warm up with mulled wine and mince pies.

Afterwards there will be stalls selling books, personalised merchandise and dog ware, games and a raffle.

The rescue has been run by mother and daughter-in-law team Mandy Heaton and Sarah Knowles since October last year, and has gone from strength to strength.

Sarah said: “The nature of our rescue means that nearly 92 per cent of our dogs that come to us need serious medical attention. This, as you can imagine, is costly.”

The entry fee is £3 per dog, with all proceeds going to support the work of the Borneholm Dog Rescue.
