A PROBLEM teenager has been locked up and handed an anti-social behaviour order following a clash with police in Creswell.

Jack Green was walking home at 6pm on 16th December last year when 18-year-old Peter Storer threw an object at his living room window, smashing a pane of glass.

He then ran off. Mr Green’s mother, Jackie Green, told police that Storer looked straight at them before smashing the window.

Chesterfield Magistrates’ Court heard that Storer got into further trouble on 21st January this year when he tried to run from the police.

He had been stopped in an alleyway and arrested. A handcuff was placed on one wrist and he struggled in an attempt to break free from a police officer’s grip.

“The officer felt he was being ragged about. He said his hands were shredded and covered in blood,” said Becky Mahon, prosecuting.

The court was told how Storer ran off but was later arrested and found to have broken the handcuffs.

Ms Mahon said: “He said he was frightened and pulled away from the officer.”

“He didn’t mean to hurt him but accepted it happened during the struggle.”

“He ran to a field and wedged the handcuffs against a fence and hit the hinge with a brick.”

Storer, of Hazelby Road, Creswell, admitted resisting police and damaging handcuffs and a window.

Magistrates imposed a custodial sentence of 16 weeks.

They also put Storer on an anti-social behaviour order to last for three years.

The order stops him being in a group of three or more people in a public place; behaving in a manner likely to cause anyone harassment, alarm or distress, or inciting others to do so; and visiting Hazelby Road in Creswell.
