The South Yorkshire Police and Crime Commissioner has launched the first round of funding for his grant scheme.

The scheme provides funds for community projects that tackle policing priorities.

Non-profit voluntary and community organisations can apply for a grant from £10,000 up to £50,000 to help towards their projects. Later funding rounds open in April and again in the autumn will support smaller projects awarding from £1 to £10,000.

To be considered for a grant, the projects much target at least one of commissioner Shaun Wright’s priorities outlined in his police and crime plan. They are to protect the most vulnerable people of crime, to reduce anti social behaviour, improve visible policing, prevent reoffending and ensuring victims and witnesses receive a better deal.

Groups should visit www.southyorkshire-pcc.gov.uk and have until 3pm on 6th March to apply.
