BASSETLAW Council is proposing to freeze Council Tax at 0% again - despite significant cuts in Government funding, which will equate to £33m in 2014/15.

The authority will meet to disuss the Council Tax freeze as part of the budget at Full Council on Monday 4th March.

Council leader Simon Greaves said: “Many households are struggling in these difficult financial times and we have worked hard to come up with a budget that doesn’t increase the burden further.”

“I am delighted that we have managed to freeze Council Tax whilst still being able to make funding available for new projects such as, support for first time buyers and investment in the leisure offer across the District.”

He added: “This budget also contains a comprehensive capital programme, which will see the Council continue to invest in play areas, offer a match funding programme for local sports groups and work with the Prince’s Trust to maximise Retford’s potential.”
