More than 70 teenagers from across Lincolnshire were recognised for the outstanding accomplishments they achieved over February half term during a special graduation ceremony.

Teens aged 16 to 17-year-olds completed the National Citizen Service scheme by spending their February school holiday giving back to their local communities, taking on new challenges and developing important skills, including leadership, teamwork and communication while also boosting confidence.

A graduation ceremony was held at Robert Hardy Lecture Theatre at Bishop Grosseteste University in Lincoln to celebrate the teens’ completion of the programme, during which graduates received a certificate signed by the Prime Minister.

Phil Everett, Communications Manager for NCS EM1, which delivers the scheme to teens in Lincolnshire, Rutland, Leicestershire and Northamptonshire, said: “The young people that have taken part in this year’s Spring programme have really gone above and beyond by doing their very best to improve both themselves and their local communities.”

“The programme is designed to give teens the chance to use part of their school holidays to build skills and experience that will help them stand out when applying for jobs and university, while also meeting people from loads of different backgrounds and making life-long friends.”
