One of the country’s top acoustic folk rock bands are heading for a popular local venue after finding fame on Radio 2.

Five piece Merseyside outfit Elbow Jane combine expressive vocals and close harmonies with mandolin, guitar, bouzouki, keyboards and percussion to create a rich acoustic sound.

Dubbed as ‘the thinking man’s band with plenty to say,’ and acclaimed by the national music press for the ‘utterly infectious’ originality of their music, the band emerged into the spotlight with rave reviews on Mike Harding’s folk show on Radio 2.

Live appearances followed on Radio 2’s Good Morning Sunday show, and at the prestigious Celtic Connections festival in Glasgow.

Guitarist Richard Woods, who was voted Young Performer of the Year at the Fylde Folk Festival, heads the line up with Acoustic magazine’s Songwriter of the Year Joe Topping on vocals, guitar, mandolin and harmonica. Kev Byrne, who has toured with Jools Holland, plays keyboards with Colin Burgess on percussion.

Elbow Jane - who have likened to ‘Crosby, Stills and Nash with a dash of Paul Simon’ - are appearing at Letwell Village Hall on Saturday 17th May. Doors open at 8 pm.

Limited tickets are available from Martyn Sharpe and Andy Swift on 01909 731626 or 540694 priced £12.
