Our friend, Ms Heather Marie Cooper, recently passed away in Bassetlaw Hospice, Retford.

Diagnosed with terminal cancer on 28th March 2014 and passed away 2nd May 2014.

Environmental health service officers at BDC have indicated that her final wishes will not be granted.

Heather wished to be cremated and have her ashes scattered/interred with her daughter Natasha, at St John’s Church parish graveyard in Carlton-in-Lindrick in the family plot.

The council officers have indicated that after the cremation service at Mansfield Crematorium on Monday 19th May, her ashes will be scattered there, but there seems to be a reluctance to hand over the ashes to family members or friends.

At the moment several family members/friends have made complaints to the council re: the situation and the council are currently investigating/reviewing the situation.

Several members of her family/friends have raised concerns with the local MP/councillors who are also looking in to the matter.
