top morris men Rattlejag Morris would love to see as many people as possible join them for their annual Boxing Day tour.
This year they will be dancing at noon on 26th December at the King William pub at Scaftworth, near Bawtry, and at 1.00 pm at the Blacksmith’s Arms at Everton village.
Even snow and ice did not deter these hardy folk last year.
There will be a chance to join in a dance with them as well as a traditional music session in the pub following the Everton performance.
Other winter traditions Rattlejag will be celebrating, along with other morris dance teams, include Plough Sunday on 10th January in and around Morton village, near Newark, and the following week, on Saturday 15th January, the Whittlesea Straw Bear procession and festival at Whittlesey, near Peterborough.
Rattlejag have had a very interesting year, taking their unique Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire dances and music around the country and next year looks as though it will be just as remarkable.
They are a lively, friendly morris dance side, who practice at Grove Street Methodist Hall in Retford on Mondays from 8.30pm September to April.
They welcome new dancers and musicians from across the region – no previous experience necessary.
